Third Trimester :)

Hey guys! Here is our little monthly update....

I just went to the doctor for our 28 week appointment. This was the last of our monthly visits, as we have to start going every 2 weeks now. The past appointments have been pretty boring, but this time I had to take a glucose test. You have to drink 8oz of a sugary drink and wait there for an hour so they can take a blood sample. They are able to check for elevated blood sugar and signs of preeclampsia as well as my iron levels. I was really freaked out about this test because everyone told me how horrible the drink was. I was told it was super sweet and really thick like cough syrup. Come to find out - it's really not that bad. The lady told me that they just recently changed the drink to be more palatable. They had fruit punch, orange and lemon to choose from. I let the lady decide, so I ended up with fruit punch. It tasted just like kool-aid. Not to bad at all! I got a call from the doctor today and found out that the glucose test was normal, but my iron count was low so I have to start taking a special kind of iron supplement twice a day along with my prenatal vitamins. No biggie. :)

This is what we have gotten done in her room so far. We painted the walls a really light blue and all of the accents will be in shades of pink. The puppies are enjoying the crib. Every time we are in there doing something, one (or both) of them goes underneath her crib. We are hoping that Mason will start sleeping in there with her since we will be on two different floors.

These are the curtains we made. Well...my mom and I picked out the fabric and my grandma sewed them. :)

The toy box is something that my grandpa made. He made it for my oldest brother a LOOOOOONNNGGG time ago :) :) :)
I would love to know how many times this toy box has been refinished. A lot, I would imagine. The last to have it was my nephew, Caden. It was painted dark brown with a really dark fabric. It is definitely different now. :) Lots of memories. I am so thankful to have stuff that my grandpa made. I miss him like crazy. So sad he isn't here. It makes me very sad to know that he never knew Dustin and he won't ever be able to meet my kids. Ok....now I'm bawling. Damn it.

This is obviously her dresser/changing table. Not quite finished. :) Just for the record...newborn diapers are SO tiny! I can't believe I am going to be responsible for something that little. Oh my....

This week, we chose a pediatrician. It's so funny, I had no idea that you had to "interview" your pediatrician. I thought that just happened in the movies. Guess not. I called the office of the pediatrician that our OB recommended to us (we LOVE our OB, so we wanted a pediatrician that was similar to her) and they asked when we would like to set up our interview. Weird. So...I guess we are going to go check her out. It's probably a smart thing. I would hate to have never met her and then when she came to check the baby at the hospital and she turns out to be a weirdo, we would have to scramble to find another pediatrician. We are going to meet her on Nov 2 and we will also do our tour and pre-registration at the hospital. We are delivering at Overland Park Regional Medical Center and they try to get all of our info prior to delivery so we don't have to worry about it then. We are both pretty scared of big hospitals since we both grew up in small towns with super small hospitals. It will be nice to know ahead of time where to go so we feel comfortable that day.

We got our maternity photos done this past weekend, so I will keep everyone updated when they are finished. She said maybe 2 weeks to get them back! I am really anxious to see them! It was so gorgeous out!

Well...I can't really think of too much else. Dustin will be starting basketball season soon so we won't be seeing him too much after that.

12 more weeks..... :)

love you!

Wiggle Worm!

Hey guys! I just thought I would give a little update this month. We just had our 24 week appointment last Monday. It was incredibly uneventful, so I am glad that Dustin didn't take a day off to come. I just got weighed and they took my blood pressure.

Our next appointment - 28 weeks - is not going to be near as easy. I will have to take a glucose test to check for prenatal diabetes. We will be in the office for an hour (they check you at the beginning and then again after an hour has passed) so we will be able to get a lot of our questions about labor and delivery answered at that time. Our OB only delivers in KC, so delivering in Lawrence is not an option for us. We get to choose between Overland Park Regional and Shawnee Mission Medical Center. It's a fairly easy decision for us since OP Regional is only a 30 minute drive and right off of the highway. In the next month or two, we will get to tour the hospital so we will know where to go on D-Day. :)

Quite a bit has changed in belly world since my last post. I have started to show quite a bit and I swear there must be a dance party going on in there. She has been very active in the past week or so! Not too long ago, I was sitting on the couch with the remote sitting on my stomach (it has become a very handy little table) and she kicked the remote right off my stomach!! Last night I was laying down and I started to SEE her move! It was unreal! I grabbed my phone and took a quick video and you can see it - clear as day!

We are planning on doing our baby registry this week. We are planning on registering at BuyBuyBaby - it's an AMAZING baby store that is owned by Bed Bath & Beyond and their stores are set-up in the same fashion. It's like a baby wonderland! :) They have a store in Overland Park and also an online store. We will register for the bulk of our items there since they have such an amazing selection. We will also register at Target for those who don't do online shopping - I know not everyone does. (FAMILY:: my sisters will be throwing a baby shower for me Dec. 4th at my parents house in Council Grove - I know December fills up quickly for most of us!)

In the next week or so, we plan to start painting and decorating Nibblet's room. I am planning on painting the walls a light blue and accenting with baby pink and hot pink. I am so excited to get started! We already have her crib in the room, so it is already starting to become more and more real! I can't believe she will be here in 15 weeks or so! So exciting!

Well...I will leave off with a picture. This is at 24 weeks!

Here is the video of her moving at 25 weeks!

5 month update

I know it has been awhile since I have posted last, so I will give you a little run down of what all has been happening!!

July:

We had a really busy month of July. I had our monthly doctors appointment on July 12 (my birthday) and it was pretty uneventful. It was too early to have a gender sonogram, but we were able to hear the baby's heartbeat on the Doppler for the first time. It was pretty surreal! I love seeing Dustin at these appointments - he always looks like a kid at Christmas. I don't think I could ask for better reactions from him! We scheduled our gender sonogram for August and the wait was awful! It is SO hard to find gender neutral clothes!

The end of July was moving day! We finally got to move into our house in Eudora. It was a dream come true for us. So much space and the puppies get their own room! We will be working on building a fence in the backyard this fall so it will be much easier to let them out - especially in the winter with the baby to worry about on top of everything. We had a pretty awesome moving crew that weekend and we were able to get everything moved, put away and organized really quickly! Thank goodness!

August:

Dustin started school and we are finally getting back into the groove of things. Summer is so chaotic for us! The shop has been crazy busy, but weddings have died down a little (they start back in full force in Sept).

Up to this point, I have not felt the baby kick at all. Dustin reads the baby a story every night and hopes every night he will feel something. I haven't felt a thing until we went to the movies to see The Help. Right in the middle of a fairly serious scene, the baby kicks!!!! I tried really hard to not scream and I thought Dustin was going to kill the baby for how hard he was pushing on my stomach to be able to feel something!!! It was really neat, but other than that one time, I haven't felt much of anything.

August 22 was our gender sonogram. We were both so excited! The doctor suggested drinking a lot of OJ before we came to the appointment - something about there being a lot of sugar in OJ and it makes the baby move more than normal. I am not sure if it helped or not, but Dustin was making me chug it! :) We got to the room and the first thing the sonogram tech said was that the baby was breach and had it's back to the "camera". Great. :) After some convincing by Dustin, who was rooting for it to move on the TV screen (so wish I could have recorded it!! It was HILARIOUS!) and doing some measurements, the baby turned. The sono tech asked us if we would like to know and asked us our predictions. I thought it was a boy and Dustin thought it was a girl. Dustin was right. Girl it was!!! I am not sure if we both stopped smiling the rest of the day! All I could think about was all the cute little girl outfits I could get her!! We are so excited! I can already imagine Dustin having tea parties and getting his fingernails painted! :)

Just so we are clear - we are NOT telling anyone the names. Sorry. I wish I could, but Dustin is adamant that no one knows. We have 2 that we can't decide on anyway! We love them both and it will probably come down to d-day before we are sure. Such a hard decision!

As of yesterday (Aug 26), I have started to feel Ms. Nibblet move on a more consistent basis. I hope that Dustin is able to feel her soon. He is getting anxious! The baby website that I follow says she will be the size of a cantaloupe on Monday. We will be 20 weeks then. Halfway done!! This is the last week that she will be measured head to rump. I guess they start to stretch out after 20 weeks and they are measured from head to toe. When we had our ultrasound on Aug 22, she said that she is measuring a tad big (10 oz) and that it may affect the due date down the road. I sure hope she isn't too big - I was my mom's biggest baby!! AHHH!!

Well...that's all I have for now. I will try to update more often. Next dr. appointment is Sept 26.

Love you all!

This is baby girl at 16 weeks! Getting BIGGER!

Month #2....

Hey guys! We went for our second doctors appointment this past Tuesday. We were VERY excited to be able to hear a heartbeat for the first time! We came into the room and our doctor (who is a ROCKSTAR) tried to use the Doppler to hear the heartbeat. Unfortunately, we were still a little early to hear it on her machine. All we heard was my heartbeat and interference from another radio, so it sounded like there was a boombox in my belly! :) I guess we must have had a pretty bummed look on our face, so she sweet-talked the ultrasound tech to squeeze us in so we could hear the heart beat and so we could confirm that there was only one baby Sanro in there. :) Much to my delight, there is only one. The heartbeat was very strong and the baby looked healthy! She measured it again and we were at 9 weeks 1 day - exactly where she measured the last time, so the due date hasn't changed. I was so thrilled that Dustin is able to come to my doctors appointments and share in all of this excitement with me. You should have seen his face when they did a close up of the baby - I have never seen such pure joy in someones face in my entire life. It really amazed both of us how realistic the sonogram was. The baby doesn't have fully grown arms or legs, so it kind of looks like a gummy bear. :) Every time I have ever seen a sonogram picture, I never really know what it is that I am supposed to be seeing, but I could make out this head and butt clear as day. :)

As far as the pregnancy goes, I have had really no symptoms. No morning sickness. No nothing. I get hot easily and I get hungry at the snap of a finger, but I think I can handle that! Thankfully, easy pregnancies and easy deliveries run in my family!! I haven't started showing, although I am feeling very lumpy. :)

I follow a pregnancy website that gives a size comparison of the baby to a common object. Week 9 (this week) the baby is the size of a green olive. Next week (week 10) it will be the size of a prune. :) It is amazing how quickly the baby grows! When we very first went to the doctor at week 5, it was the size of a orange seed! Crazy!!

We go to the doctor next on July 12 (my 28th birthday!!). I will be 13 weeks and we should be able to hear the baby perfectly and he/she should be moving around like crazy! I will be at the beginning of my second trimester then. We will not be able to find out the sex of the baby until about 18-20 weeks, so we have a little while to wait.

We have a HUGE list of name possibilities, but I think we are going to make a final decision on the name the day the baby is here. We are both bad at making decisions, but we have some great names that we both are in love with. We just have to see which one we love the most!!  :) :)

I will keep you all informed on anything else that happens, but look out for another post in July after our 3 month doctors appointment! Love you all!

Our first Dr. appointment

We had our first doctor's appointment on Tuesday morning. We, of course, got a positive pregnancy test! I had to get blood work done and we got scheduled for our first sonogram to tell a more accurate due date. We ended up being at the doctor's office for 5 1/2 hours that day!! From the sonogram, they determined that I was 5 weeks and 1 day along and our due date is January 16, 2012.

I will post on here with all our other updates!

Next doctor's appointments is scheduled for June 8th and we will get another sonogram. We should be able to hear the heart beat!!!!!!!!

Our new family!

Hi everyone! I am sure everyone knows by now, but we are PREGNANT!

I found out this past Monday morning after some suspicion. I hadn't told Dustin that I was taking the test - after we had taken many in the past with negative results, I didn't want to get his hopes up. I took the first (of 3!) tests and it was a wacky +/- test. Would not recommend to anyone! :) I had to look at the box 50 times before I realized that it was actually positive. I, of course, started FREAKING out. Dustin was at school already, so I couldn't easily call him and I also wanted to make sure that it was truly positive. I decided to drive to Wal-Greens to get another brand of test that would tell me for sure - without a doubt!

After two more tests, the results were in - PREGGO! :) I was overwhelmed and excited and scared and thrilled. I didn't know what to do with myself! I had to call someone, and I knew I couldn't really call Dustin so I called my mom. Maybe not the best decision - in hindsight I should have told Dustin first - but  I did it anyway. My little sister was also at home, so they both found out first.

I decided that I would go to Lawrence - I was at the shop at the time - to get Dustin and small present to tell him. I asked if I could meet him for lunch. He had regional baseball tournaments that afternoon and the team left town at noon, so he asked if we could do it another time. I told him that it was important that I talked to him that day and he started to get concerned. I told him that I couldn't tell him over emails and that I would meet him at school.

I got to school and showed up with a small package wrapped with blue and pink paper. He still had 45 minutes of teaching left before I could tell him my news. I think he started to figure it out. :) I bought him a Daddy's Survival Guide and a book called Daddy's Kisses. When he opened it, I think he was in shock. We immediately called his mom and dad and brother. We told the rest of our family throughout the day.

That evening we went on a date to Zen Zero - the restaurant where we had our first date. What a full circle.

I called the doctor that afternoon and made an appointment for the next day........
